The Beginning
The concept of Around Town was first discussed between two friends over a few drinks at a bar one night. Neither person could list a single band booking, drink special or restaurant deal. They decided that Oxford needed a way to better promote the local activities. The football weekends did not necessarily need more publicity, but the smaller scale everyday events and specials at local bars, restaurants and even stores could use a boost in awareness. The concept evolved into a website that would not only help Oxford residents and visitors become aware of such opportunities, but also help local businesses of all types better promote themselves through various services the website has to offer.
